To-day there is anew fashion in literature. Fifty years ago certain poems appeared in every reader and were read over and over again until the child was stupid indeed who did not unconsciously learn them by heart. It has never gone out of fashion and never will as long as children love wonder-stories and grown-ups have young hearts.īut those who read the book when it was first published found in it a delight which the child of to-day misses. It is a universal story and so belongs to all time. Many thanks to Beauty and Lace and Pan Macmillan for the opportunity to review such a wonderful book.Fifty years ago the world was made glad by the appearance of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. The front cover and illustrations in this book are delightful, as are the giggles you’re sure to have! I found it very funny and I loved the fact that it was a twist on traditional children’s bedtime tales and perfect timing with Halloween just around the corner.Ī 10/10 from Miss 7 and we would both thoroughly recommend this delightful, spooky and funny read! Every morning I would be given a synopsis of the story chapter read the night before, and Miss 7 was particularly impressed with ‘Sleepover of Doom’ as she could pick the storyline and this had her fascinated! The only negative she said was she didn’t like how Andy Griffiths characters used the word ‘idiot’ but she did giggle when she read that if you picked the wrong storyline you’d die! When asked what her favourite part of ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat’ was, Miss 7 loved the fact that book was made up of several of her favourite book authors, and in particular Andy Griffiths. This book was a huge hit with Miss 7, so much so that her sisters were all clamouring to read it once she finished. Thanks to Pan MacMillan 10 of our Beauty and Lace club members will be reading and reviewing Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat with their little people so I look forward to hearing what they all think.
